US President Trump stated that he is willing to fly to China to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on diplomacy and economic issues.
In an interview broadcast on Fox News on the 16th, when asked if he hoped to visit China to meet Xi Jinping, Trump said, "I certainly would," and noted that US-China relations are "very important."
Since returning to the White House in January of this year, Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to engage in dialogue with Xi Jinping.
Despite Trump's eagerness to engage with Xi Jinping, he mentioned while discussing his recently concluded visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, that the visits were aimed at ensuring these countries are not influenced by China.
He said, "They were going to turn to China, seeing China as their motherland, but that's not going to happen."
He stressed that keeping these countries "in our camp is very important."
