Hong Kong’s Indian-origin actor Chan Chun Wah, who has acted in multiple TVB dramas including “From Vegas to Macau III”, “The Undercover”, and “Barrack O’Karma”, publicly revealed his stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer diagnosis in August last year, and recently reflected on the arduous year-long battle against his illness.
Chan described his nerve pain as feeling “like thousands of ants crawling across my face”, even experiencing itching in his eyeballs, leaving him in deep distress. Chan revealed that he underwent a total of 12 rounds of chemotherapy and 33 sessions of radiation therapy. The initial treatments did not yield good results, but thankfully, after the third chemotherapy session, the facial nerve pain disappeared within hours, giving him enough relief to eat and enjoy tastes and smells again—an experience that brought him some solace.
Previously, Chan’s ex-wife accused him of not fulfilling his responsibilities as a provider, leading to family discord and a tarnished reputation, with reports of him working as a cleaner at a restaurant in Guangzhou, China. Now, he hopes that by sharing his cancer-fighting experience, he can encourage and support others going through similar health challenges.
