(Miri on the 5th) Miri Orthodox Buddhist Association held an event today at its premises to distribute school opening gifts and miscellaneous fees for the 20th time to students from underprivileged families.
The guest of honor, Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, expressed his gratitude for the Miri Buddhist Association's assistance to the disadvantaged groups in society over the years.
He stated that the Miri Buddhist Association's approach of offering help regardless of race and religion is commendable, and it aligns with what the Sarawak government advocates. Therefore, all ethnic groups should continue to maintain racial harmony and live in harmony, creating a peaceful and stable society.
“To maintain religious harmony, the government has set up units for other religions to assist in their development, which is not seen elsewhere.”
It is reported that this year, 100 beneficiaries will receive school bags, rice, and other supplies, along with a school expense allowance of 100 yuan.
