(Miri, 19th) The 2024 Basic Swimming Training Program (Phase 3) was successfully launched at the Nah Ying Club recently, with participants including 40 children from the Methodist Children's Home and Hamida Orphanage.
This program, initiated by the National Youth and Sports Ministry and jointly organized by the Miri Youth and Sports Bureau with the Miri Amateur Swimming Association and the Sailsfish Club, mainly targets the B40 low-income group, children, seniors, and disabled individuals (OKU) interested in learning swimming. It aims to teach them basic swimming techniques. Participants learn about water safety, breathing techniques, building confidence in water, selecting appropriate swimwear, and basic buoyancy techniques during the course.
Meanwhile, the organizers also provided participants with swimsuits, swim trunks, swim caps, towels, and goggles.
Additionally, after completing the basic course, the Sailsfish Swimming Club will continue to offer these trainees advanced swimming courses for free until they master swimming skills.
The goal of the program is to enhance water safety awareness, reduce drowning risks, and promote a healthy lifestyle within the community.
