(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) held a handover ceremony yesterday for newly built homes under the 'Care Program' (Projek Teduh), highlighting the bank’s ongoing commitment to promoting community welfare and supporting disadvantaged families through sustainable social development initiatives.
The handover ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Social Policy and Manpower, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs and the Chairman of BIBD Group, Dato Aminuddin.
The newly constructed house was handed over to the beneficiary family representative, Zali. Also in attendance were BIBD Acting Managing Director and CEO Mohd Yusri, members of the bank’s Shariah Advisory Committee, BIBD management and staff, as well as representatives from government agencies and private sector organizations.
This initiative underscores BIBD’s dedication to supporting national priorities through impactful and sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, aiming to improve the quality of life in local communities and strengthen their socio-economic resilience.
The house construction project in Kampong Wasan commenced on April 11, 2026, and was successfully completed on May 25, 2026, thanks to joint efforts from multiple stakeholders. This achievement highlights the power of partnerships in delivering tangible results and reflects the shared commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
The implementation of the 'Projek Teduh' continues to be driven by close collaboration among BIBD, government agencies, corporate partners, business figures, and volunteers, all sharing a common vision to uplift community welfare through collective action. This initiative embodies the national approach, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and shared responsibility in addressing social welfare challenges.
Funding for BIBD’s 'Projek Teduh' comes from the bank’s business zakat, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to deploying resources that create meaningful social impact and enhance community well-being.
In addition, BIBD employees, corporate organizations, and institutions with the same vision—committed to strengthening community welfare and social development—have also supported the initiative. These collective efforts reinforce compassion, volunteerism, and solidarity, while reflecting the objectives of Islamic law and the bank’s 'Brunei at Heart' philosophy.
Through the 'Projek Teduh', BIBD and its partners will continue to support the Brunei government’s efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable community development.
