(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th) The Department of Town and Country Planning under the Ministry of Development, through its Planning Bureau, has taken enforcement action against a hardware company located in Mukim Sengkurong due to violations of planning regulations.

This two-day operation, named “Operasi Roboh” (Demolition Operation), was initiated because the company failed to comply with an enforcement notice and nine warnings issued under the Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 248).
Investigations revealed that the company constructed storage facilities without the necessary planning permission and utilized sidewalks, parking spaces, green areas, and roadways to display goods for sale.

According to Section 39(1)(a) of the Act, the Planning Bureau is empowered to enter the premises and take necessary actions, including demolition, restoration to the original state, and removal of property from the land. The Planning Bureau has carried out the demolition and site restoration in accordance with regulations.

All costs and expenses incurred in carrying out this enforcement action will be recovered from the company as a civil debt.

The planning department emphasized that it will continue to take strict measures against any parties who fail to comply with current planning laws. The public and business operators are advised to obtain the necessary planning permission before undertaking any development or land use activities.
