The Hong Kong film "On the Way to the Hospital" focuses on the story of paramedics. Directed by Heiward Mak, it stars Hong Kong superstar Louis Koo, along with Angela Yuen, Jeffrey Ngai, Cheung Yun-Kin, and Philip Keung. In the film, Louis Koo reveals that during his school days, he was hit by a car and thrown more than 10 meters, causing his clothes to shred, and he lost consciousness and had to be taken into an ambulance. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured and was discharged after getting stitches.
In the film, Louis Koo plays an experienced and dedicated paramedic who sustains injuries due to his commitment to his work. He mentioned that when he was a child, he wanted to become a firefighter but never thought of being a paramedic. Before filming, he and Jeffrey Ngai took on the task of learning a lot about emergency medical procedures. Louis Koo said, “This is a very specialized field of work; one must use the correct terminology and not make mistakes in the procedures. One must remain calm under pressure.”
The film was shot four years ago. At the time, both Jeffrey Ngai and Angela Yuen had limited acting experience and were very nervous working alongside superstar Louis Koo. Jeffrey Ngai jokingly said he tried to act composed on set, “I was just pretending not to be scared.” Angela Yuen, who plays a nurse in the film, admitted that she was a bundle of nerves, “I would jump in and speak before Louis finished his lines, completely unable to control myself.” Subsequently, Jeffrey Ngai was nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards for "See How I Say It Today," and Angela Yuen received a nomination for Best Actress for "Narrow Road, Tiny Dust." Their potential has indeed been acknowledged.
