Veteran Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen has recently been busy recording for the musical competition reality show "Riding the Wind 2025," and also for the Hong Kong black stage play "Silence!" coming to Malaysia for a performance. Anita Yuen admitted that she thoroughly enjoys finding the ultimate feeling on stage, which gives her special enjoyment and satisfaction!

Organized by Hong Kong's most representative experimental theater troupe 'Zuni Icosahedron' and co-organized by W Productions (Malaysia), the Cantonese black drama "Silence!," adapted from the original stage play "Unspeakable" by Shanghai Drama Arts Center's Artistic Director Yu Rongjun, will be performed from May 9 to 10 at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) Pentas 1 Theatre. The limited three-show tickets in Malaysia sold out quickly. Following five successful and well-received shows in Hong Kong, this is the first overseas performance for Malaysian audiences, and will subsequently head to Guangzhou for performances.

"Silence!" stars Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress winner, renowned actor Wong Tak-bun, along with Zuni founding member Yeung Wing-tak and actor Wing Wei-tong. The four actors, along with producer Chan Shun-chi and director Hu Renwei, first met the Malaysian media on Wednesday before the performance. For many artists, this will be their first time performing stage plays in Malaysia, thus they are very excited. However, due to the tight schedule, they have yet to taste Malaysian delicacies.

Anita Yuen said that she has been eating packed meals for the two days in Malaysia and finds them delicious, finishing them all. Wong Tak-bun mentioned he misses Malaysian roasted chicken wings, Yeung Wing-tak plans to try Malaysian cuisine after the play, and Wing Wei-tong is also looking forward to trying Malaysian food.

The story of "Silence!" revolves around the married couple, played by Anita Yuen and Wong Tak-bun, who are doctors of neurosurgery and neurology. Despite their daily conversations, they are never truly able to communicate. However, an old classmate's visit unexpectedly reveals long-hidden secrets within the family.

Speaking about the inspiration for this play, Wong Tak-bun said, "It's most important for couples to be honest with each other, but sometimes things really can't be blurted out, especially when one party is emotional. In an argument, words that are said impulsively due to emotions can lead to misunderstanding and worsen the relationship. Therefore, I believe controlling emotions is crucial for couples."

Anita Yuen believes that the play offers more about the relationship between the sexes, "As a woman, the storyline has many similarities with my personal life. For instance, many things I don't need to say out loud, and my partner would know what I'm thinking. However, sometimes the simplest things I assume he would understand, he doesn't. This role resonates with experiences many people encounter in real life, highlighting that communication is an essential part of male-female relationships."
