(Seria, 7th) The First Vice Chairman of the Brunei Dapu Association, Rao Meijing, previously led directors and members to hold the Bingwu Year Qingming Spring Memorial event, jointly remembering ancestors and paying respect to forebears.
The group first went to the Tunku Hill Chinese cemetery for worship, and then to two Chinese cemeteries in Seria for further memorial rites, in line with the tradition of honoring the deceased, cherishing ancestors, and promoting the Chinese tradition of filial piety.
In addition, after the memorial activities, the Brunei Dapu Association held a Qingming Spring Memorial luncheon at Yuanxiang Restaurant in Seria, with about 60 people attending, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
Besides directors, members and their families, there were also 10 Dapu fellow villagers from China who attended the luncheon.
This year, the luncheon was specially arranged at noon mainly in response to fellow villagers’ suggestions, hoping that Dapu members and their families could participate together and deepen hometown ties.
In his speech, the First Vice Chairman of the Brunei Dapu Association, Rao Meijing, thanked directors, members, and fellow villagers from home and abroad for attending the luncheon, and expressed gratitude to director Chen Hongkun for his contributions.
The incense, gold paper for the Qingming Festival memorial service were sponsored by director Shen Xinzhang, who also provided tea, fruit and candies; Second Vice Chairman Chen Hongyuan and director Guo Pei contributed tofu pudding for the spring luncheon, while director Chui Changhua gave each participant a dust mop gift box.
He said that special thanks should be given to member Shen Qingying for making 'Suanpanzai' and 'Aiban', as well as to secretary Xie Wenhui, Chen Hongyuan's wife, Guo Peisheng's wife, He Guangti's wife, and Rao Meijing's wife for their assistance in the preparation. This allowed all attendees to taste traditional hometown delicacies “Suanpanzai” and “Aiban”, and feel the deep affection for their hometown.
