The Mayor of Lopburi, Chanlon, received a report from staff at the city’s animal nursery that nearly a hundred monkeys under the care of the Lopburi city government—entrusted by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation—had escaped from their enclosure. Over a thousand other monkeys kept in the same enclosure were successfully prevented from escaping further.
Upon receiving the report, Mayor Chanlon ordered staff and notified relevant departments to begin controlling and capturing the escaped monkeys, to prevent disturbance to nearby residents.

Currently, staff are prioritizing capturing the monkeys in areas where they may disturb residents, and are continuing their efforts at other key locations, successfully recapturing some of the escapees.
Meanwhile, another team is working quickly to repair and reinforce the damaged enclosure to prevent further monkey escapes.
