(Manchester, 4th) Sarawak aims to launch its first nano-satellite (CubeSat) before 2030 to strengthen the state's geolocation data capabilities.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari said that the development of this aerospace technology will allow Sarawak to own its own satellite, thereby obtaining more accurate earth imagery.
He said this initiative also aims to enhance data capabilities and comprehensively support the development of Sarawak's digital economy.
"Our goal is to launch the first satellite before 2030. It will be a nano-satellite using CubeSat technology, and we will own a satellite capable of obtaining earth imagery." He stated this during the 'Sarawak Agenda: Dialogue with the Premier' event held in Manchester, UK. The event was part of the 'Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak' (LBAS) UK chapter.
In addition, he revealed that the iconic infrastructure project—the Batang Lupar Bridge—is expected to be completed and operational by mid-May this year, reducing the driving time from Kuching to Sri Aman to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The LBAS UK chapter held in Manchester not only symbolizes the unity of the people of Sarawak but also serves as an important platform for Sarawakians abroad to come together.
This event is not only a gathering for networking, but also a strategic exchange platform, bringing together Sarawakian students and professionals from across Europe to focus on the rapid development of Sarawak.
