(Iran, 10th) – A shooting incident occurred in the northeastern Iranian holy city of Mashhad, resulting in two deaths.
The Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran reported in the early hours of Friday (July 10) that a shooting incident took place in the northeastern city of Mashhad on the night of the 9th, leaving two people dead.
The location of the shooting was only 17 kilometers from the Imam Reza Holy Shrine—the mausoleum of Iran's late Supreme Leader Khamenei. Khamenei’s burial ceremony was held in Mashhad on the morning of the same day.
Shahmaghdari, the Deputy Governor of Khorasan Razavi Province responsible for security affairs, said the shooting occurred at around 10pm on the 9th (2:30am Singapore time on the 10th) in the Sarafrazan community.
Shahmaghdari said that the motive for the shooting and the identities of the deceased are currently unknown.
