Bruneian and Laotian Leaders Hold Meeting to Strengthen Education and Trade Cooperation

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 27th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei held a bilateral meeting with Laotian Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
The meeting took place at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, accompanied by Prince Mateen.
During the bilateral meeting, His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone discussed the strategic partnership between the two countries in the fields of education, defense, and people-to-people relations.
This included the Brunei government's announcement of scholarships for Laotian students in 2023, as well as Laos' continued participation in English language courses offered by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
In addition, His Majesty welcomed Laos’ desire to deepen trade relations, including rice imports between the private sectors and agricultural cooperation.
His Majesty also expressed pleasure at the recent visit to Brunei by Laotian Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and invited the Laotian Prime Minister to visit Brunei at an appropriate time.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The relationship between Brunei and Laos is solid and friendly, and was elevated to a strategic partnership in 2023.
The two countries have carried out extensive cooperation in various fields such as economy, human resource development, and defense.
