A male netizen from Shandong, referred to as Mr. A, recently posted an accusation online stating that some of his past life photos posted on social media platforms were used without authorization by the Chinese Hongguo Short Drama Series Peach Blossom Hairpin. Using AI technology, his likeness was turned into a short drama character and portrayed as a negative figure, stirring significant public attention.
Mr. A explained that he is not an internet celebrity, just an ordinary person; his original post only garnered about 20 likes and he had just a few dozen followers. Yet, without his knowledge, his photos were scraped by AI to create a character in the short drama. A side-by-side comparison reveals that the short drama character’s clothing, accessories, makeup, and even overall styling are strikingly similar to his original hanfu photo. Mr. A questioned that the short drama platform used his photos for AI modeling without permission and even set his likeness as a "greedy and lustful" negative character, seriously violating his rights to image and reputation. He publicly called on the Hongguo Short Drama app to provide a “fair, just, and transparent” resolution. As of now, the Hongguo Short Drama team has not publicly responded to this matter. #
