(Bandar Seri Begawan, 3rd) The organizers of the 2025 Brunei Half Marathon (Arrowtech Sports and Royal Brunei Airlines), together with the event committee, extend their sincere gratitude to all participating runners, volunteers, partners, and supporters for their contributions to the successful hosting of this year’s event.
The 2025 Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge Half Marathon marks a milestone in our nation’s history, with more than 3,000 runners from Brunei and 28 other countries taking part in the country’s first ever night race crossing the SHOAS Bridge. Without the unwavering support from ministries, government agencies, sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and the public, the event could not have been held successfully.
The event organizers wish to address public queries regarding the delay of the half marathon start.
There were rumors indicating that the event was delayed due to VIPs arriving late, leading to some misunderstandings. The organizers would like to clarify that these claims are untrue. The VIPs arrived on site at 10pm, well in advance of the scheduled start time.
The main reason for the delay was severe traffic congestion around the indoor sports complex, as multiple major events were taking place simultaneously. This unprecedented level of congestion impacted the timely arrival of participants at the starting point, as well as the delivery and sorting of race packs at the finish line. The organizers fully recognize these logistical challenges. We take full responsibility and are committed to improving every aspect of our operations. It is worth noting that these issues were swiftly resolved before the 10km and 3km races, ensuring a smooth start for subsequent categories.
The organizers deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused and sincerely thank all participants for their patience and understanding. We are currently conducting a comprehensive review of all operational systems—including traffic, logistics, and on-site coordination—to ensure improvements and offer a better race experience in the future.
The organizers state that their goal is to clearly identify shortcomings, learn from them, and ensure avoidable problems do not recur. We will implement more robust systems and processes to significantly enhance participants’ experience in future races. We strongly encourage runners and the public to continue providing direct feedback to the organizers. Your input is vital for us to improve and elevate the event.
We are grateful for the positive feedback regarding the food and beverage offerings at the finish line, which brought a pleasant and fulfilling post-race experience for all runners. We will strive to further raise this standard in future events.
Again, our thanks go to all ministries, government agencies, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and the public. The organizers look forward to welcoming everyone again at future Brunei Half Marathons.
