On the 5th, Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency released data showing that the average life expectancy in Indonesia will reach 74.47 years in 2025, an increase of 0.32 years compared to 2024.
According to a China News Service report, per capita life expectancy is an important indicator for measuring a country's economic and social development as well as its medical and health standards. Data show that since 2020, Indonesia's per capita life expectancy has cumulatively increased by 1.10 years, with an average annual growth of about 0.22 years. Specifically, it was 73.37 years in 2020, 73.46 years in 2021, 73.70 years in 2022, 73.93 years in 2023, 74.15 years in 2024, and has reached 74.47 years in 2025.
In the field of education, in 2025, the average years of schooling for Indonesia's population aged 25 and above will be 9.07 years, an increase of 0.22 years compared to the previous year; the expected years of schooling for the population aged 7 and above will be 13.30 years, up 0.09 years from the previous year. Compared to 2020, both indicators have increased by 0.59 years and 0.32 years, respectively.
A spokesperson for Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency stated that the improvement in per capita life expectancy and education indicators reflects enhanced public health and medical service standards, as well as the popularization of education and a greater public awareness of education.
Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country, with a population exceeding 280 million. Since the beginning of the year, the Indonesian government has successively launched various livelihood projects such as the free nutrition meal program, the national health check-up project, and the “People’s School” construction plan, aiming to improve education and public health standards and raise the quality of life for its people.
