Miri Golf Club Launches Electric Cart Fire Suppression System to Enhance Safety Levels

Published at Apr 11, 2025 05:30 pm
(Miri, 11th) To strengthen venue safety management and prevent fire risks, Miri Golf Club (KGM) officially launched the new electric cart fire suppression system (New Buggy Fire Suppression System) today. With an investment of nearly RM100,000, this marks a significant milestone in the club's facility safety field.

The system is primarily used to ensure the safety of electric golf cart charging stations and parking areas, preventing potential fire hazards from causing severe financial and operational impacts on the club. The launch ceremony was held today at 3 PM at the club, officiated by Miri Mayor and Pujut State Assemblyman Yii Siew Sang.
The new electric cart fire suppression system is launched, ensuring the charging station is protected from fire risks.

During his speech, the club captain and Executive Vice Chairman of Dayang Enterprise Holdings Berhad, Datuk  James Ling Suk Kiong, pointed out that carts are the main source of income for the club. If a fire occurs, it would lead to significant property losses and could interrupt the club's operations.

"When I became captain, I immediately noticed the severe risk of the charging station lacking a fire suppression system. However, the club was financially strained and lacked the means to address this."

He stated that after multiple efforts, funds were eventually raised with strong support from the management committee, the cart committee, and Mayor Yii Siew Sang. "The mayor allocated RM60,000, providing key assistance for the system's construction. What once seemed like an insurmountable challenge has now become an important achievement in enhancing the club's safety."

He thanked everyone who contributed to this project and called for continued collaboration to build a safer and stronger Miri Golf Club.

During the ceremony, Mayor Yii Siew Sang and  James Ling Suk Kiong signed a commemorative plaque and conducted the related briefing. Club President Sunny Ting Yong Kong and other committee members also attended the event to witness this significant moment.
