(Miri, 18th) Sarawak Transport Minister and Senadin Constituency State Assemblyman, YB Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, emphasized that education is not only about academics but also about cultivating the noble character and values of students, as they are the pillars of the nation’s future. He called on all sectors of society to work together to ensure students can reach their full potential.
He made this statement in a speech delivered on his behalf by Miri City Councilor Toh Kah Shiong, as the minister was unable to attend due to other official duties, at SK St. Joseph’s Parent-Teacher Association and school management’s annual dinner and retirement dinner for Teacher Margaret Bala for the 2024/2025 session, held at the Pavilion Ballroom, Grand Palace Hotel, last night.
Lee Kim Shin thanked the organizing team and extended the highest respect and gratitude to all parties who contributed to the success of this event. Without everyone's collaboration and dedication, the event would not have been as successful.
He pointed out that such events not only express gratitude for the hardworking contributions of teachers but also highlight the importance of education.
“However, compared to the contributions of teachers, I believe these events are still insufficient to fully repay their selfless dedication to the field of education.”
He thanked Teacher Margaret for her contributions and sacrifices over the years, for sowing the seeds of knowledge in every class taught, educating, supporting, and inspiring students to become successful individuals. He wished her a future retirement filled with happiness and health.
Lee Kim Shin stated that everyone present should cherish and support the crucial role teachers play in shaping the next generation.
“Let us, in this warm family-like atmosphere, not only cheer for Teacher Margaret but also applaud all educators who selflessly dedicate themselves to student success.”
He said that this event is a tangible expression of support and gratitude to her. Evidently, Teacher Margaret’s contributions and kindness will be remembered and respected by colleagues and the school alike.
