(Ipoh, 1st) Sarawak is stepping up efforts to introduce innovative and sustainable building materials to drive infrastructure development.
Led by Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning & Development) Datuk Seri Mohamad Abdullah Zaidel, a delegation visited the DURA factory in Chemor on March 31 (Tuesday).
This official visit is part of the state government's broader plan to explore advanced technologies that can enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support long-term development.
During the visit, the delegation learned about DURA's advanced composite material technologies and modern manufacturing processes, with products renowned for their durability, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness.
The delegation was also introduced to the application of DURA products in various infrastructure projects, including bridges and industrial facilities, and toured the production line to gain in-depth understanding of the company's capabilities in providing high-performance, sustainable building solutions.

DURA products, due to their durability and reduced lifecycle maintenance costs, also help reduce carbon emissions, aligning with the goal of promoting green infrastructure development.
In his speech, Dr. Abdullah emphasized that adopting innovative technologies is essential for ensuring the sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and resilience of Sarawak's infrastructure—especially in tackling the state's unique geographical and environmental challenges.
He further pointed out that cooperation between government agencies and industry is vital to identify practical solutions that can be adopted in current and future projects.
