(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) A 22-year-old local man pleaded guilty to breaking into a house and stealing a car, and was sentenced to three years in prison.
The judge took into consideration the defendant's guilty plea and his previous convictions for similar property-related crimes before sentencing him to three years of imprisonment.
The deputy public prosecutor revealed that the defendant committed the crime on September 29.
The defendant entered a house in Seria, stole the Suzuki Swift car keys belonging to one of the residents, and then drove the car away.
Subsequently, the defendant drove to Berek Perumahan to pick up a friend, and then went to a supermarket in Seria. On the way, they were involved in a car accident on Maura Na Road in Kuala Belait. Police later tracked and arrested the defendant.

The court learned that the defendant admitted to illegal entry and theft. He had previously been convicted multiple times under Sections 379, 380, and 451 of the Penal Code for theft and unlawful entry.
The judge described the case as an opportunistic crime that occurred while the residents were asleep, and stated that due to the defendant's repeated offenses, it was necessary to impose a deterrent sentence.
