On the 16th, Pakistan stated that Afghanistan's claim that Pakistan conducted an airstrike on a hospital in Kabul which provides rehabilitation for drug addicts does not match the facts.

Pakistan denied deliberately attacking hospital facilities, and stated that it carried out precision strikes on “military facilities and terrorist support infrastructure.”

Taliban government spokesman Mujahid said earlier that Afghanistan airstrikes targeted a hospital in Kabul providing rehabilitation services for drug addicts, causing numerous casualties.

He said that Pakistan had once again violated Afghan territory, and that these attacks were criminal and inhumane acts.

Taliban Ministry of Health spokesman Zaman told AFP that preliminary reports showed more than 200 people have died so far, with another 200-plus injured.

In any case, Deputy Government Spokesman Fitrat stated that the death toll is at least double the above figures, with another 250 injured.

From the night of February 26th to the early morning of the 27th, Afghanistan and Pakistan engaged in cross-border fighting in areas along their shared border. Pakistani forces launched airstrikes on several locations in the Afghan capital Kabul, as well as in the southern Kandahar province and eastern Paktika province, causing tensions between the two countries to escalate rapidly. Pakistan's Defense Minister Asif announced the launch of open warfare against Afghanistan.
