Iranian Foreign Minister: End of War Depends on Ensuring No More Aggression

Published at Mar 17, 2026 11:37 am
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated on the 16th that the war waged by the US and Israel against Iran must end in a way that guarantees no further aggression, adding that the US and Israel have learned a lesson and now realize they are facing a country that will unwaveringly defend itself and is prepared to continue the war.

At the weekly press conference held at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi said: "When we say we do not want a ceasefire, it is not because we want to continue the war, but because this time, the war must end in a way that ensures the enemy will never dare to launch attacks and aggression again."

He pointed out that the US and Israel have mobilized all their forces in an attempt to force Iran into unconditional surrender, but Iran is engaged in a glorious resistance and will steadfastly continue this resistance.

He reiterated that Iran has not made any request for a ceasefire. After more than two weeks of conflict, however, the US and Israel have begun seeking help from other countries, hoping they can help ensure the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s position is that the Strait of Hormuz is closed only to enemies and their allies, as well as to those who launch unjust aggression against Iran.
