(Kuching, 12th) Datuk Ruslan Abdul Ghani, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd, stated that Bintulu Port consistently handles more than 80% of Sarawak’s total import and export volume, demonstrating its important role in driving the state’s economic growth.
He said that Bintulu Port not only facilitates trade and supports industrial development but is also a crucial hub connecting Sarawak to global markets.

“As the global energy landscape shifts toward sustainability, we are ready to play a key role in emerging sectors, such as green hydrogen and renewable energy logistics.”
“These are new fields of growth, and Bintulu Port is fully prepared to provide comprehensive support.” He remarked this in his speech at the “Customer Centric Nite 2025” dinner last night.
Ruslan revealed that in the first nine months of 2025, Bintulu Port handled a total of 38.3 million tonnes of cargo and welcomed 5,649 vessels, despite challenges such as LNG maintenance operations and weather disruptions during the period.
“Our vessel turnaround time remains competitive—27 hours for LNG carriers and 47 hours for non-LNG vessels. At the same time, equipment availability is sustained at 87%, reflecting our ongoing commitment to operational excellence,” he said.

He added that the installation work for the port operation system and the new automated gate system is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
In terms of financial performance, Ruslan pointed out that Bintulu Port remains stable, recording an investment return of RM41 million, earnings per share of 22.3 sen, and operating cash flow of RM117.7 million.
“These solid foundations enable us to continue reinvesting in infrastructure development, digital innovation, and talent cultivation to ensure we deliver greater value and higher quality services to our partners and clients,” he said.
