The World War II Memorial located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., was vandalized with spray paint on the 13th. U.S. President Trump strongly condemned this act of vandalism on the 14th.
On the social media platform 'Truth Social,' Trump wrote: 'Our beautiful World War II Memorial has just been defaced with spray paint. This is the ultimate insult to the American heroes who sacrificed during WWII... We are tracking them down!'
The WWII Memorial is located on the east side of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Videos and photos show that the memorial area was splattered with pink and green paint, with some places bearing the words 'Clean hands, dirty money.' The fountain pool was also filled with bubbles.
U.S. District of Columbia federal prosecutor Piro confirmed on the 14th that a suspect has been taken into custody.
Piro posted on social media: 'This morning, we have filed two felony charges against Faris in federal district court... Both charges carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.'
