Police Arrest Two Men for Drug Trafficking, Seize Over 300,000 Worth of Drugs

(Miri, 11th) Miri Police Chief Acp Alexson Naga confirmed that a team of officers and police personnel from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters and the District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND), Miri District Police Headquarters, Sarawak have successfully arrested 2 local men aged 41 and 50 who are suspected of being involved in drug trafficking activities. 

On 9 January 2025, a raid team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (JSNJN IPK) and the District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND), Miri District Police Headquarters, Sarawak conducted an inspection and raid on a house in the Krokop area, Miri, Sarawak. As a result of the inspection and raid, the Police arrested the suspect and seized a suspected amount of drugs, 1,579.60 grams of Ecstacy pills and 4,193 grams of Methamphetamine. The total seizure was worth RM397, 941.50. In addition, a car estimated to be worth RM8,000.00 was also seized.

 Both suspects have been remanded for 7 days to assist in the investigation. 

This case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted, they can be sentenced to death by hanging or, if not sentenced to death, to life imprisonment and a whipping of not less than 12 strokes. 

Miri District Police advise the community to continue to provide information regarding drug trafficking activities that occur around them to immediately report them to any nearby Police Station so that this activity can be contained and eradicated together.
