(Melaka, 18th) Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf said that it is highly likely that the state election will be held within the next four months.
As the Melaka State Liaison Committee Chairman, he mentioned this after attending a dinner event on Sunday (17th) evening, and stated that the state government will evaluate the feasibility of holding the state election during this period.
He explained that as the state assembly will expire in December this year, the election cannot be scheduled too close to the expiry date, and it is expected to coincide with Ramadan.
"It will definitely be held within the next 120 days, so we cannot wait until December 30th when the term ends as that will be close to Ramadan."
"Therefore, we will try to find an appropriate time to hold the state election within these 120 days."
When asked whether Melaka UMNO would contest on its own, Ab Rauf stated that no decision has been made yet.
