Singaporean authorities earlier refused entry to Nathan Law, former chairman of Hong Kong's Demosistō. On June 30, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee responded by saying that Nathan Law is suspected of violating national security crimes, is a designated fugitive, and will be pursued for life. "No country should harbor criminals."
Before attending the Executive Council meeting, John Lee told reporters present that the Hong Kong government would use all possible means to pursue criminals for life and would never let any fugitive escape.
According to foreign media reports, Nathan Law departed from San Francisco, USA, on the 26th and arrived in Singapore on the 27th, but Singaporean authorities refused him entry on the grounds that "his entry was not in Singapore's national interest"; Nathan Law was detained and questioned for 14 hours before being deported back to San Francisco on the 28th.
The 32-year-old Nathan Law has been living in exile overseas since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law in 2020. He has been wanted by the Hong Kong police with a bounty of HKD 1 million for allegedly "inciting secession" and "colluding with foreign or external forces to endanger national security."
