Vacant House in Miri Destroyed by Fire

(Miri, 28th) A vacant house on Jalan Kampung Pasir, Dato Gabriel, Miri, caught fire last night, with firefighters taking over an hour to completely put out the blaze.
A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Center said that after receiving a report from local residents at 12:59 a.m., authorities immediately dispatched personnel to the scene to carry out rescue operations.
Upon receiving the notification, the Miri Central Fire and Rescue Department sent out a firefighting team to the location.
He said that a total of two fire engines and 14 firefighters were deployed in this firefighting operation.
"The teams used a water hose about 100 feet long and sprayed water from the fire engine’s tank to extinguish the fire," he stated in a press release.
He added that the firefighting operation also received assistance from firefighters from the Miri Central Fire and Rescue Department to ensure the fire was fully controlled.
In addition, the fire team continued with follow-up extinguishing work until it was confirmed that there were no remaining sources of reignition at the scene.
In this incident, the vacant house was completely destroyed by the blaze. Fortunately, as of now, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
