(Kuching, 28th) The Kuching District Police Headquarters will launch the “Smooth Operation” (Operasi Lancar) for five consecutive days from December 29, 2025 to January 2, 2026, to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce the risk of road accidents during the year-end holiday period.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga anak Chabu stated that with the coming school and public holidays, the number of vehicles and visitors in Kuching city will increase, hence the operation.
He said that police will focus on monitoring and managing 10 main roads in the city, including Gambier Road, Wan Alie Road, Airport Road, Tun Jugah Road, and Tabuan Road.
"Other involved roads include New Stutong Road, Stutong Baru Road, Penrissen Road, Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub Road, and Rock Road." he said in a statement yesterday.
He added that 10 senior officers and 40 traffic police officers will be deployed during the operation to ensure smooth and controlled traffic flow.
For this reason, police advise the public to plan their journeys in advance, avoid peak hours, use alternative routes, and follow the instructions of on-duty traffic officers.
"Road users are also urged to drive cautiously, avoid traffic violations, and show mutual courtesy to ensure everyone's safety," he said.
He emphasized that public cooperation is crucial to ensure traffic safety and smooth travel in Kuching during the year-end holiday period.
