The President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge, stated on the 25th that as of 12:00 noon local time on the 25th, two earthquakes above magnitude 7 had triggered 138 aftershocks.
He announced via Venezuela’s National Television that at least 346 buildings were damaged, including 8 hospitals, and some hospitals have already been evacuated.
He said that international rescue teams from multiple countries had arrived in Venezuela to assist with disaster relief.
He said rescue teams from the United States, Mexico, Spain, Qatar, as well as the United Nations, have arrived one after another.
He called on the public to donate relief supplies at material collection points across the country.
Currently, rescuers are still searching for survivors in collapsed buildings. Large engineering machinery has gradually arrived at disaster sites, and rescue operations are ongoing.
