Chinese Woman Reportedly Causes Chaos on Plane, Arrested by Japanese Police Who Boarded the Aircraft

A United Airlines flight from Shanghai Pudong Airport to San Francisco was reportedly disrupted when a middle-aged Chinese female passenger suddenly lost control of her emotions and caused chaos on board. She not only threw tableware at the flight attendants but also splashed food and spat in the cabin. As the situation escalated, the captain decided to make an emergency landing at Japan's Narita Airport.

After landing, Japanese police boarded the plane and took the passenger away.

According to Chinese media reports on the 25th, the incident occurred on flight UA858, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER. The number of people on board is unknown. The plane took off from Pudong Airport at 12:43 pm Beijing time on the 24th and made an emergency landing at Tokyo Narita Airport at 4:37 pm local time. The flight resumed at 6:15 pm, heading to San Francisco.

First-hand eyewitness posts by fellow passengers shared on social media stated that the involved passenger had already displayed abnormal behavior at the boarding gate in Shanghai, constantly talking to herself, loudly cursing at others in a mix of Chinese and English, and loudly claiming she was being "persecuted." Unexpectedly, her behavior further escalated after takeoff.

When the flight attendants began distributing in-flight meals as per procedure, the female passenger suddenly erupted, throwing heavy tableware hard at the approaching flight attendant in front of everyone, and verbally insulting them repeatedly. She then dumped the food from her tray onto the aisle floor and spat around the cabin. Although the air marshal immediately intervened and issued two final warnings, the woman persisted in her actions and refused to calm down. For the safety of all passengers, the captain decided to alter the flight route.

Viral video footage from inside the cabin captured the scene as police boarded and investigated. After landing, at least seven Japanese law enforcement officers boarded the plane. The female passenger remained agitated, sitting in her seat and repeatedly screaming, "What do you want!" and "I'm not leaving!" One officer quickly took her carry-on luggage from the overhead bin.

Eyewitnesses noted that the Japanese police showed restraint throughout and did not use force, patiently communicating with her. However, as the woman refused to cooperate from beginning to end, negotiators were finally called in, and only then was she successfully taken into custody and removed from the aircraft.
