The Taiwan New Taipei District Prosecutors Office has concluded its investigation into the well-known medical beauty chain "Aili" concerning its secret filming scandal on Thursday. After days of investigation, prosecutors confirmed that 18 branches had installed hidden cameras, with nearly 100 victims affected. The group president Chang Rushan, general manager Liu Zhenhua, special assistant Zhang Yuanling, equipment supplier Xie Jin-heng, and an accountant surnamed Cai were indicted on four charges, including unauthorized filming of sexual images and child sexual exploitation. In addition, the wife and child of the equipment supplier surnamed Xie were also indicted for jointly destroying evidence, bringing the total number of people indicted in the case to seven.
The case originated when a female victim, while undergoing body sculpting at the Banqiao branch, discovered what appeared to be a hidden camera disguised as a smoke detector. On the 1st, she reported to the police, who confirmed it was a surveillance camera. On the 3rd, Haishan Police Precinct searched the Banqiao branch but could not find the main surveillance device. Tracing the source, they targeted the supplier Xie Jin-heng, urgently requested a detention order from the prosecutor, and tracked Xie to Taichung, detaining him.
The police then systematically checked the confiscated surveillance main units and discovered numerous victims. Seven have so far reported to the police, and it was also found that minors had been secretly recorded. On the 6th, a second wave of searches was launched and four more New Taipei branches were investigated. Currently, main units and camera lenses disguised as surveillance devices have been seized from 10 branches across Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, and Taichung. The Taichung branches and four Taipei City branches are being jointly investigated by Taichung, Taipei, and New Taipei prosecutors.
Unexpectedly, after the first wave of searches, it was found that Xie Jin-heng, the supplier who coordinated with the Aili Group to install the surveillance equipment, was suspected of acting under someone's instructions to dismantle some surveillance cameras and main devices while traveling from north to south. On the 6th, group leader Chang Rushan, special assistant Zhang Yuanling, and Xie Jin-heng were detained. Their request for bail was denied, and their appeals were rejected by the Taiwan High Court, meaning all three remain in custody and barred from visits.
