Revolutionary Guard: Newly Announced Hormuz Strait Routes Without Iran’s Coordination Unacceptable and Dangerous

Published at Jun 25, 2026 02:48 pm
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated on Thursday that only routes designated by Iran can be safely used to transit the Strait of Hormuz; any newly announced routes without Iran’s coordination are unacceptable and carry security risks.

The Revolutionary Guard also warned that it would take action against vessels violating the relevant regulations.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy said in a statement on social media on Thursday that a few hours ago, certain entities had announced a new route for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz without coordinating with Iran; the so-called new route is unacceptable and extremely dangerous.

The statement added that the Revolutionary Guard Navy warns that the Strait of Hormuz may only be transited using routes published by Iran, and any vessels deviating from these routes are prohibited and will face extremely high security risks.

On Wednesday, U.S. President Trump stated that in negotiations with Iran, the issue of passage fees for ships in the Strait of Hormuz would be a "red line" for the United States.
