The Indonesian military stated on the 3rd that it is making every effort to pursue the suspects who killed American pilot Gosling, and has strengthened security measures in the surrounding area where the incident occurred.
The military said that the attack was perpetrated by local armed separatist militants.
The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) earlier claimed responsibility for shooting the American pilot Gosling and also burning the plane.
On the 2nd, Gosling was attacked and killed in Indonesia's eastern Papua region, and the small plane he was flying was also set on fire. His body has been recovered by the military, and all 7 Papuan passengers on the same flight have been safely relocated.
A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department told the media that the United States is "closely monitoring" developments related to the investigation.
