In response to the US State Department's statement that it will revoke the visas of Chinese students in the US, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the US stated on the 29th that China strongly opposes this political and discriminatory action by the US.

When answering media questions, the spokesperson said that this move by the US will seriously harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students in the US and will further damage the international image and national credibility of the US.

The spokesperson said that the Chinese Embassy in the US has immediately lodged a stern representation with the US, urging the US government to correct its mistake and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students in the US.

On the 28th, the US Secretary of State issued a brief statement stating that the US State Department will cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security to "forcefully" revoke the visas of Chinese students, including those "affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party or studying in key fields"; it will also "review visa eligibility and strictly scrutinize all visa applications from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong".
