The level 5 fire at Hong Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong, has caused multiple casualties. Firefighters have been tirelessly conducting firefighting and rescue operations for days, physically and mentally exhausted, taking every second they can to rest. Citizens have spontaneously delivered large amounts of supplies and cold-weather gear to express their gratitude for the firefighters’ dedication through action.
According to a report by “HK01”, Yuen Chau Tsai Lane, located outside the Tai Wong Yeh Temple near Hong Fuk Court, has now become a temporary rest area for firefighters because it sees little pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
On site, some firefighters can be seen sitting directly on the ground, grabbing every moment to rest, while others keep warm by wrapping themselves in thermal blankets.
The owner of the Rainbow Skewer Specialty Shop in Hong Kong personally witnessed off-duty firefighters taking off their turnouts and finding large amounts of water pouring out from the pant legs. He felt pained by not knowing whether it was sweat or water that had seeped in during firefighting.
Many caring citizens have expressed their gratitude for the firefighters' hard work. At the same time, worrying they may lack sufficient food and cold-weather supplies, they have spontaneously headed to the area to deliver large quantities of goods. Due to road closures, the area can only be supplied on foot or by bicycle.
According to circulating pictures and videos online, the temporary supply station is piled high with bottled water, paper cups, bananas, thermal jugs, and other items. Site personnel indicate that supplies are currently sufficient.
Netizens have left messages to salute rescue personnel: “Salute to the hardworking firefighters, ambulance personnel, and all the volunteers who are dedicated day and night without rest.”
On site, it was also seen that Watsons has installed hot and cold water dispensers so that volunteers can easily provide hot drinks and ginger tea. Meanwhile, support teams formed spontaneously by citizens continue to hold the line, ensuring that front-line rescue personnel receive ample logistical support.
