47-year-old Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming graduated from Beijing Film Academy and recently made it to the shortlist for the doctoral program retest at Shanghai Theatre Academy. Due to the basic requirement of ten thousand words for the doctoral thesis, his past 'one-finger Zen' typing skill has come under ridicule again. It even dug up old stories with his ex-wife Angelababy (Yang Ying), with jokes saying: 'No wonder the divorce announcement was just a few words back then!'
Back in 2019, when promoting the movie 'The Bravest', his typing was mocked as 'basically typing like an old man'. In 2021, when Baby was involved in controversies, he came out to defend his wife and typed 465 words within 16 minutes. Some people thought he made rapid progress, but it was highly likely done through voice typing or by his PR team. Now, there are worries about Huang Xiaoming entering the PhD program; once he starts writing the thesis, it might take him 10 years to finish it.
In an interview, Huang Xiaoming admitted: 'I can't use a computer! I can only peck with one finger. I know how to use a mouse, so all my public posts are done by others while I direct from the side. If I want to chat online, someone else has to do it. It's quite old-fashioned!' He admitted that not knowing how to type is a laughable thing, but he really can't, and thinking about it, it hasn't affected his life.
