On the 28th, U.S. President Trump held talks at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who was visiting the United States.
This was the first face-to-face meeting between the two since the U.S. and Israel jointly launched a large-scale military operation against Iran at the end of February. Netanyahu's visit to the U.S. also comes as Trump has paused the ongoing military action against Iran that lasted 13 days and is launching new diplomatic efforts.
The meeting between the two lasted for just over an hour, while previously Trump had just held a roughly one-hour meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky. White House Press Secretary Levitt posted on social media that both meetings were positive and productive.
According to a previous statement released by the White House, in addition to the Iran conflict, Trump and Netanyahu would also discuss the "Abraham Accords" related to the normalization of relations between Israel and Arab states, as well as the progress of the tripartite framework agreement previously reached among the U.S., Israel, and Lebanon.
Earlier that day, Trump stated in an interview with Fox News Channel that he does not need Netanyahu to inform him about intelligence on Iran's Ghao Mountain underground nuclear facility, as he is fully aware of the situation at Ghao Mountain. "Netanyahu is telling me these things because he wants me to stay involved," he said.
On the other hand, Netanyahu stated that he had a “very good” meeting with U.S. President Trump at the White House.
In a video statement, he said: “I just concluded a very good meeting with President Trump. The talks concerned our shared goal: to ensure that Iran cannot obtain nuclear weapons.”
