Canada's new cabinet appointed by Prime Minister Carney was sworn in on the 13th at the Governor General's residence in the capital, Ottawa.

Besides Carney, the new cabinet consists of 28 members, with an equal number of 14 men and 14 women. More than half of the team are new faces entering the cabinet for the first time, but against the backdrop of the current delicate Canada-U.S. relations and the urgent need to revitalize the economy and people's livelihood, positions such as finance, foreign affairs, and trade in the cabinet are still held by senior members.

Sean Paul continues as the Minister of Finance while also overseeing taxation. Leblanc, formerly responsible for international trade, is appointed as President of the Privy Council and Minister responsible for Canada-U.S. trade, intergovernmental affairs, and Canadian economic integration.

Anand is appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. A former professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, she was elected as a federal MP in 2019 and has since held key positions including Minister of Public Services and Procurement, Minister of National Defense, President of the Treasury Board, Minister of Transport and Intramural Trade, and Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry.

Former Foreign Minister Joly turns to the Minister of Industry, also overseeing the Quebec Regional Economic Development Agency.

Carney stated that the new Canadian government team will construct new economic and security relations with the United States and build the "strongest" economy within the G7.

On March 9th this year, Carney was elected leader of Canada's ruling Liberal Party. He was sworn in as Prime Minister of Canada on March 14th and appointed a transitional cabinet composed of 24 members. Subsequently, he led the Liberal Party to victory in the federal election held on April 28th, namely the House of Commons election, but did not win a majority of seats, hence forming a minority government. The new session of Canada's parliament will commence on May 26th.
