(Bandar Seri Begawan, 27th)—The Royal Brunei Police Force’s Cyber Crime Investigation Division (BSJS) was recently invited to give a talk on “Online Scams” as part of the retirement preparation course organized by the Civil Service Department, aimed at raising fraud prevention awareness among civil servants. A total of 39 participants from various ministries and government departments attended.
The lecture was delivered by Chief Inspector Adinin, covering common techniques used in online scams, potential threats, and the correct response measures to take when receiving suspicious messages.
He also advised participants that if they suspect they are being scammed or receive suspicious information, they should immediately call the online scam reporting hotline at 16993 so that the relevant authorities can take prompt action.
The aim of the talk was to increase participants’ awareness of cybercrime, strengthen preventive awareness, and enable them to master prevention measures to avoid falling victim to online scams.
