The pro-Green polling organization Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation released its poll results on the 16th, showing that Taiwan President Lai Ching-te's popularity has fallen to a new low, with only 32.7% expressing approval of his administration, while 57.8% disapprove.

The number of those who disapprove exceeds those who approve by 25.1%. The Foundation's chairman You Yinglong stated that currently, there are nearly 5 million more people who disapprove of Lai Ching-te's administrative performance than those who approve. For Lai Ching-te, who has been in office for 16 months, this is undoubtedly an unprecedented political setback.

You Yinglong analyzed that the main influencing factors include the "recall campaign" failure, unclear prospects in tariff negotiations with the US, and continuing doubts surrounding the Ko Wen-je case.

The poll shows that only 6.6% of respondents strongly approve of Lai Ching-te's way of handling Taiwan's affairs, 26.1% approve, 30% somewhat disapprove, and 27.8% do not approve at all. Compared with last month, the approval rating dropped by 0.6%, while the disapproval rating increased by 3.4%. Regarding cabinet governance, only 31% of respondents said they were satisfied, tying a historical low; 25.7% felt fairly satisfied, 30.1% somewhat dissatisfied, and 28.1% very dissatisfied.

The data also shows that, regarding Taiwanese people's party preference tendencies, support for the Kuomintang has risen by 5.1%, while that for the Taiwan People's Party decreased slightly by 0.8%.

This poll was conducted from September 8 to September 10, targeting Taiwanese adults aged 20 and above, with a valid sample of 1,077 people.
