ASEAN School Games: Pei Min's Yang En Hong Advances to International Competition

(Miri, 10th) Pei Min Middle School's table tennis talent, Yang En Hong, has claimed multiple awards this year in both state-wide and national tournaments due to his outstanding skills, and he is now set to advance to international competitions, emerging as a new generation table tennis star from Sarawak.

Earlier, from May 21st to 29th, Yang En Hong represented the Sarawak team at the National School Federation Table Tennis Championships in Kelantan and won third place in the men's singles. This achievement led to his selection to join the Malaysian national team, preparing to compete in the ASEAN School Games.

The ASEAN School Games is a sporting event for secondary school students in the ASEAN region, aimed at promoting friendship and cooperation among the region, with participating countries including Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.

On another note, at the 4th PMG Table Tennis Invitational held in Sibu from June 1st to 3rd, Yang En Hong secured fourth place in the men's open category. This highly competitive event featured top players from across Sarawak.

Yang En Hong is currently a secondary two (1) student at Pei Min. Overcoming significant pressure, he rose to the challenge in the open category, competing against players from all over Sarawak, showcasing superb skills and defeating many top contenders to win fourth place, an impressive feat.

Pei Min's principal, Bei Mei Jiao, stated that Yang En Hong, despite being just a middle school student, achieved this honor against many adult players through his relentless perseverance, superb skills, and unwavering faith, bringing glory to his school.

She mentioned that behind this honor are rigorous daily training sessions and the courage and spirit to not become discouraged by failure or shrink back from difficulties, which are the qualities the school hopes to see in every student.

She emphasized that whether in sports, academics, or any field students are passionate about, as long as they are willing to put in the effort and fight for their dreams, they will surely reach their personal peaks!

Bei Mei Jiao hopes that Yang En Hong will continue to work hard, gain valuable experiences in the larger international stage of the ASEAN Games, boldly face challenges, and never fear difficulties or failures, moving step by step toward his peak, and someday become Malaysia's "Fan Zhendong," competing globally and bringing glory to the nation.
