Miri Branch of Sarawak Children's Cancer Society Organizes Thanksgiving Luncheon - Dr. Tiong Hung Sung: Join Hands to Help Children Overcome Difficulties

(Miri, 22nd) The Miri Branch of the Sarawak Children's Cancer Society held a thanksgiving luncheon today to thank the volunteers and kind-hearted individuals who have supported the society over the years. Dr. Tiong Hung Sung the vice-chairman of the society and a cancer survivor, expressed sincere gratitude to all sectors of society in his speech and emphasized the importance of joining hands to help children and families overcome difficulties.

 

Dr. Tiong Hung Sung said he was deeply gratified to be gathering with everyone today, and he also felt a great sense of responsibility. As a cancer survivor, he is well aware of the pain endured by patients and their families and hopes to provide them with more support and hope through the society's efforts.

 

"My journey against cancer began at the age of seven; it was an extremely difficult experience. I do not wish for any child to go through the same pain, but I firmly believe that as long as all sectors of society work together, we can reduce their suffering and provide warmth and support during the toughest times."

 

He thanked the public for their support, which has enabled the society to help these families overcome the challenges in their lives and create a brighter future for children with illnesses.

 

"It is because of everyone's kindness that we can continue to provide assistance, allowing children to have hope and look forward to a better tomorrow."

 

He further emphasized that the core of this thanksgiving event is to unite the power of society, encourage more people to focus on children's welfare, and actively participate in support.

 

"Today, we gather not only to celebrate everyone's good deeds but also to witness how love and support can change countless lives."

 

He expressed the sincerest gratitude on behalf of all the beneficiary children and their families to all supporters, volunteers, and donors, and hoped that the public would continue to support this important cause, creating a warmer and more hopeful future together.

 

On the other hand, Joyce Hii, a director of the Sarawak Children's Cancer Society and the head of the Miri branch, stated in her speech that the success of the association is inseparable from the joint efforts of volunteers and kind-hearted individuals.

 

"It is their selfless dedication that has brought our society to where it is today, helping more children with cancer and their families."

 

She emphasized that the contributions of volunteers are crucial; they not only dedicate their time and energy but also accompany the children with love and patience, giving them hope and warmth.

 

"Without their help and dedication, there would be no Miri branch of the Sarawak Children's Cancer Society today, nor would there be so many benefited children and families."

 

Xu Meifang especially thanked Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting, noting that he has supported the association since 2011, providing much help to children with cancer and their families.

"Today, the society has reached this point thanks to the selfless dedication of these volunteers and the donations and support of kind-hearted individuals. Their good deeds have allowed more children with cancer to receive help and gain the courage and hope to defeat the disease."

 

She stated that the Miri branch of the Sarawak Children's Cancer Society will continue to strive to provide more assistance to children with cancer and called on the community to continue their attention and support so that this love can continue and benefit more needy families.
