The Vietnamese side pointed out that U.S. President Trump, during his meeting with Vietnam's top leader Surin, pledged to remove Vietnam from the list of countries restricted from accessing advanced U.S. technology.

According to reports from Reuters and Bloomberg, and based on a meeting summary released by the Vietnamese government news website, Trump made this statement during a meeting with Surin at the White House on Friday (February 20). Surin had attended the inaugural leaders' meeting of the 'Peace Committee' held in Washington the previous day.

The summary issued by the Vietnamese government news website did not provide further details.

The statement said Trump supports deepening cooperation between the two countries in the economic and technological fields.

Prior to the meeting between Trump and Surin, the U.S. and Vietnam had announced an agreement worth more than 30 billion dollars (about 38 billion Singapore dollars). According to the agreement, Vietnamese airlines will purchase 90 aircraft from U.S. company Boeing.
