Zhu Guangwu: Most Cherished Memories from 17 Years as Principal – Heartfelt Gratitude at Pugong 80th Anniversary Banquet

(Miri, 18th) Puyi Chung Hua Primary School Principal Zhu Guangwu stated that Puyi Chung Hua Primary School has journeyed through 80 years of ups and downs, passing the torch from one generation to the next. The school’s development to this day has relied on the long-term support and dedication of predecessors, the board of directors, teachers, parents, and all walks of society.

He expressed this in his speech last night during the school’s Grand 80th Anniversary Banquet, held in the 5th-floor ballroom of the Imperial Palace Grand Hotel.

He said that, since the school's founding 80 years ago, special thanks must go first to the visionary founders, who persevered to promote education and cultivate talent in difficult circumstances, quietly dedicating themselves selflessly to Chinese education.

“Their dedication and persistence laid a solid foundation for the school’s development and allowed the spirit of Chinese education to be passed down through generations.”

He also sincerely thanked all the past boards of directors for their long-standing, robust support of the school, providing a firm backing in terms of manpower, resources, and finances, ensuring the school’s steady progress in all aspects of development.

At the same time, he expressed gratitude towards the parents for their long-term trust and cooperation with the school, enabling the school to focus on running smoothly so teachers can devote themselves more fully to their educational work.

“There are also four YBs (People’s Representatives) who have long supported Pugong, allocating funds to our school every year, thereby helping to improve school facilities.”

Zhu Guangwu also expressed his utmost respect to all the teachers, thanking them for their years of quiet dedication and commitment to educating students, as well as their tireless preparation for this 80th anniversary celebration.

“It is precisely because everyone has united and worked together that tonight’s celebration could proceed smoothly and successfully.”

He said this year’s school anniversary carried special meaning for him, as he has served as principal since 2009 — totaling 17 years — and will officially retire this month.

“During these 17 years, I have been fortunate to witness the growth of the school alongside everyone, to fight side by side with the teachers, and to grow together with the students. These years are the most precious and unforgettable memories of my educational career.”

He said that as he departs, he is filled with gratitude and reluctance, thanking the board for their trust, the teachers for their cooperation, the parents for their support, his family for their encouragement, as well as the joy and inspiration brought by the students.

“Although I will step down as principal in the future, I will continue to care about the development of Puyi Chung Hua Primary School and deeply wish all the best for this school that I love.”

He wished the 80th anniversary celebration of Puyi Chung Hua Primary School every success, hoping for ever greater glory, that the school flourishes with students all over the world, and continues toward an even more brilliant and beautiful future.

During the event, the 'Sincere Distinguished Teacher Award', sponsored by the Wen Suhua Appreciation Education Fund, was presented to teacher Yu Meina with 40 years of service, Lin Shuzhen with 31 years, and Li Yanwan with 30 years of service at the school. Additionally, the 'Pugong Outstanding Leadership Award' was presented to Principal Zhu Guangwu, and the 'Sincere Distinguished Vice Principal Award' was presented to Vice Principal Gan Meimei.
