Four Tourists Rescued After Being Trapped in Lambir National Park – One Woman Nearly Fainted from Exhaustion

(Miri, 18th) – A tourist rescue incident occurred at Lambir National Park on the 16th. After receiving a report, the Fire and Rescue Department launched a rescue operation and successfully brought four stranded individuals to safety from the mountainous area. One female tourist nearly fainted from physical exhaustion, but fortunately her condition stabilized.
The incident was reported at around 4:30 p.m. on the 16th at Lambir National Park (Taman Negara Bukit Lambir), which is about 36 kilometers from the Miri city center. Miri Fire and Rescue Department immediately dispatched personnel to the scene and arrived at 6:10 p.m. to begin the rescue.
A total of 5 firefighters, 1 fire engine (FRT), and 1 Emergency Medical Rescue Services vehicle (EMRS) participated in the operation. Other units involved included the police, national park rangers, and Ministry of Health personnel.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department's report, there were four people trapped: three adult women and one adult man. They were identified as 34-year-old Staloy Anak William, 34-year-old Dibrin Engkut Anak Sidi, 33-year-old Stacy Solius, and 35-year-old Dayang Aida Suhaila Binti Awang Ismail.

The incident commander stated that all four individuals were in a safe condition, except for one woman who was extremely fatigued and nearly fainted due to exhaustion. The rescue team immediately provided assistance and escorted her out of the mountains.

The rescue operation was jointly conducted by three firefighters and three park rangers, lasting about three hours. The situation was brought under control at 9:40 p.m. and concluded successfully at 9:50 p.m. All the trapped individuals were subsequently handed over to Ministry of Health personnel for further checks.

The Fire and Rescue Department urges the public to make adequate preparations and pay attention to safety when entering forest parks or engaging in outdoor activities, to avoid similar incidents.
