A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Balıkesir Province in western Turkey on the night of the 10th, resulting in 1 death and 29 injuries.
According to reports from Xinhua News Agency and AFP, Turkish Interior Minister Yerlikaya stated at a press conference held in the provincial capital of Balıkesir that the earthquake has caused the death of an 81-year-old resident and left 29 people injured, though their injuries are not serious.
The earthquake caused the collapse of 16 buildings in Sındırgı and surrounding areas, including 4 residential buildings. Among them was a three-story building in the city center, where several people were rescued from the rubble. The deceased 81-year-old lived in this building.
Yerlikaya stated that the search and rescue operations have concluded, and there are no signs of other serious damage or casualties.
