(Kuching, Jan 12) Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof emphasized that diversity and inclusiveness in the legal industry are foundational to nation building.

“Diversity and inclusiveness are our strengths. They not only strengthen the legal profession but also ensure that justice is accessible to all levels of society.”

Also serving as the Minister of Energy Transition and Public Utilities, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof pointed out at the East Malaysia Branch dinner of the Malaysian Judicial Experts Association last night that the theme of the dinner, “Diversity and Inclusiveness in Nation Building,” reflects the spirit of unity and justice values held by Malaysian citizens.

He stated that continuing to cultivate values of inclusiveness and unity through education and training, particularly in addressing unconscious biases and improving cross-cultural communication within the legal industry, is crucial for ensuring the professionalism and integrity of legal services.

He praised the successful hosting of the 10th Legal Education Series by Swinburne University in Kuching, reflecting Malaysia's continued efforts in advancing legal education.

“The Malaysian Judicial Experts Association has shown a strong commitment to legal education through various initiatives, and I believe that more success will be achieved through this collaboration.”

During the ceremony, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Bostaman and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Malaysian Judicial Experts Association and the Faculty of Law of the University of Malaya, aimed at strengthening legal education and training to cultivate a competitive generation of lawyers.
