(Miri, 7th) Miri Member of Parliament Chiew Choon Man stated that sports are very important for our physical and mental health, especially for medical personnel working in extreme environments. Without achieving a balance between work and stress, it is impossible to provide the best service to patients.
He said that the success in the health field lies not only in the advancement of technology and medicine but also in the overall physical and mental health of hospital staff. Initiatives like sports carnivals are a very positive step in boosting morale and spirit. It is hoped that through the event, a positive and balanced lifestyle can continue to be promoted.
Chiew Choon Man made these remarks during his speech at the closing ceremony of the Sports Carnival held by Miri Hospital at the Miri Stadium.
He pointed out that the goal of organizing the Miri Hospital Sports Carnival is clear, which is to encourage the medical staff of Miri Hospital
about the importance of taking care of physical health, and at the same time strengthening the friendship between medical staff.
“Sports are an effective way to relieve stress, giving a new spirit and motivation to perform daily tasks.”
He also said that the Sports Carnival runs from August 2024 to December, featuring various challenging sports events. This diverse range of sports is designed to ensure that all staff
can participate according to their interests and abilities.
“I would like to thank all the Miri Hospital doctors for their commitment and unwavering dedication in serving to bring the greatest health benefits to the community. I am confident that this event can help create a more harmonious and efficient working environment while improving morale and our cooperation.”
It is reported that the sports carnival is divided into 5 teams competing against each other, and the sports events include five-a-side football, badminton, volleyball, netball, pickleball, athletics, and fun sports, among others.
