PN Chairman Position Not Tied to Any Party — Yadzil: The Capable Should Lead

(Kuala Lumpur, 4th) Bersatu Supreme Council member Yadzil stated that the position of Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman does not belong to any particular political party, but should be led by whoever is most capable.

He said that leaders from any member party of PN are eligible to be considered for the PN Chairman position. All parties can voice their opinions and nominate candidates, but the final decision must be made by the PN Supreme Council, and all member parties, including PAS and Bersatu, must abide by it.

Yadzil, who is also the State Assemblyman for Wangkawan and Melaka Opposition Leader, issued a statement saying that the PN Chairman must possess capability, enjoy the support of a majority of the top leadership, have credibility, and possess the ability to lead PN to victory in the 16th General Election.

He said that more importantly, electing a new chairman is not just to fill a vacancy, but to find someone capable of uniting PN member parties, bringing leadership closer together, and resolving disputes and differences within the coalition.

"The absolute priority is the interests of the coalition and the trust of the people—this is more important than any personal or party upper-level interests."

He believes that all PN member parties must stop arguments and divisions that could weaken PN, and focus their efforts on strengthening organizational development, adjusting mechanisms, and connecting with the people.

Earlier, PAS President Tan Sri Hadi Awang stated that with Bersatu's Tan Sri Muhyiddin's decision to resign as PN Chairman taking effect on January 1, PAS would assume leadership of PN.
